A BIG well done to Team CH and Team AF for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team CH - 99.3% Team DB - 99.6% Whole school - 94.4% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! This week in assemblies we have had a focus on Poetry, to help celebrate National Poetry Day today.
The children have enjoyed listening to lots of poems about the environment, which was the focus for the Poetry Day this year. KS2 enjoyed listening to poems by Grace Nichols, including her poem about JMW Turner's painting called Snow Storm - Steam-boat off a Harbour's Mouth. We discussed the use of language - our favourite lines were 'The wildness of the whirlwind, The horses foaming at my feet'. Year 6 loved to hear this as this is the Artist they are studying at the moment. Our Year 3s are very excited as today we have members of the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue |Department coming in to school to meet Year 3 and discuss the importance of fire safety. They are looking forward to learning new information and learning about what to do in the event of a fire. We can't wait for them to share their new knowledge in Golden Book assembly with the rest of the TEAM!
Thank you to those mums, dads, grandmas, grandads, siblings and family members who have taken the time to come in to school and read with their children! It was lovely to see so many adults enjoying special time with their children, reading in school.
The children absolutely love to see your happy faces and enjoy sharing their books with you. It really does make a difference - THANK YOU! This week in our cultural significant person study whole school assembly, children learnt about David Attenborough and what a significant person he was. They learnt about his early life living on Campus at a University and how he had so many books to read on animals, in the University library. They learnt about how he worked hard to know more about every animal and spend time with them in the wild. We learnt how much success someone could have for learning more about their hobbies and things that they love
Talk to your child about the importance of having interests and hobbies and finding out more about what we care and believe in. A BIG well done to Team CW and Team DB for their strong attendance rates last week!
Team CW - 95.8% Team DB - 100% Remember our target is 97% - let's go for it this week Park Street! |
