As part of our topic we have been learning about The Great Fire of London. Today we set our house we made of fire. We saw how quickly the fire spread. We felt upset that our houses had burn town and understand how the people of London felt in 1666.
Thank you so much year 5 for coming to read with us! We had a lovely time and really enjoyed being read to. We also enjoyed reading to you.
Today, we have been using the computers to write. We had to think very carefully about how we could write on the computer as we were not allowed a pen. We used the keyboard to type and figured out that we needed to use the shift key to type a capital letter for our names.
Can you help us find Snow White?
We have received a letter from Snow White’s mum asking for help as Snow White has gone missing. Hopefully, with help from our wanted posters, we will find her!
This week in maths, we have been learning about how numbers can be broken down into ‘tens’ and ‘ones’. We specifically looked at the number 13. We have shown the number 13 partitioned in many different ways, including using counters, cubes, ten frames and base 10. Today we will try and partition some other numbers into ‘tens’ and ‘ones’.
As we have been learning about the Great Fire of London, we have practiced singing London’s Burning. We have done an amazing job and even split part of the song so that boys and girls have to sing at a different time!
This morning, we have been looking at how we can make 20. We have used tens frames and 20 counters to help us. Some of us even used a systematic approach to make sure we found all 21 bonds.
This term, we will be learning about the Great Fire of London. We started our learning in literacy today. We have found out about some of the events and what happened during the Great Fire of London. We read some events and put them in order.
