This week SG have been investigating different types of rocks. First, we went to the Nature Reserve and collected as many rocks as we could find. After that, we sorted them based on properties such as size, color, texture, and pattern.

Today in PE, SG focused on improving their ball control and awareness skills. We began by learning the correct way to hold a hockey stick. Once everyone felt confident, we had a great time practicing dribbling around cones. It was a fun and active session!
Today Team SG went to visit Barnsley Museum and Cooper Art gallery.
We've been learning about how archaeologists learn about the past by excavating sites and analysing artefacts and other physical remains. Today, children in Team SG got to become archaeologists, analysing artefacts and producing observational sketches of their favourite finds! They unearthed an enormous number of tools that assisted us in making predictions about how people lived. We examined each artefact.appearance, what it is made from, what it might be used for.Based on our findings, we analysed how life was in the past and compared it to the present. The children then tried their hand at creating their own stone age-inspired gave drawings. They are really amazing! Team SG has been participating in more group activities to strengthen our capacity for healthy competition and self-confidence as part of last term's PE unit on teamwork and leadership and our current study of conflict revolution in PSHE. We used our Unifix cubes today in a group building competition. The children were assigned three tasks: build a robot, an octopus, and a dinosaur.
In PSHE today we focused on conflict resolution. We considered the difference between small and big arguments, taking time to discuss various arguments we may have had in our lives already and the steps we took to overcome them. We agreed as a class that if we had a problem at home or school, we might:
After this, we spoke about all the things we look for in a friend and why we think these qualities are so important. We have been reading various stories from the Torah in RE. Today we looked at the Creation story and why it is important in both Christianity and Judaism. We discussed why the story is significant in both religions and produced our own class story board using freezeframes! In Art children in SG spent the first half term creating their very own clay pots. They spent a lot of time researching pottery designs from the Stone Age to the Roman Era before they started creating them. They then planned how they would safely and effectively carry out their designs. The finished pots are extremely stunning, and their hard work has certainly paid off. They are now working really hard on their Roman inspired mosaic artwork. I cannot wait to see the final pieces!RE - We have thoroughly enjoyed our learning about Christianity and Judaism. We have been learning about special books and why the Torah is sacred to the Jewish faith. We have been learning about how to treat this special book with respect. We have also been comparing elements of Judaism with Christianity.
Music - We have been working hard to practise our improvisation work. We have been learning how to keep time and tap the beat. We have been listening to and singing our current focus piece 'Music is in My Soul'. This week we have been planning our own investigation linked to our science learning about light and shadows. We have also been working on this half term’s science enquiry PATTERN SEEKING.
The children worked in groups to generate an investigation question linked to shadows and how they are formed. We decided on the equipment we would use. We also chose appropriate methods to measure the shadows, which involved drawing around the shadows and measuring them. We collected our measurements and looked for patterns to help us draw conclusions. In history this week we have been finding out about the work of archaeologists and how we know about life in the past. We had opportunity to dig for evidence and artefacts. Once we had uncovered a range of sources and artefacts, we had chance to discuss them. We used our detective skills to try and decide what each object could tell us about life in the past.
