We applied our map skills and locational vocabulary to find and describe the location of ancient Egyptian land on modern day maps. We recently collected all the amazing learning that the children have been doing, and they shared their own thoughts and ideas of what they have been doing in class. The children were asked what kind of roles they would be able to participate in by studying Geography, as well as explaining in detail where Geography could possibly take them.

We have explored how and why earthquakes happen and the human physical impact of these catastrophic events.

We looked at the environment around us, we used our senses to describe what we had found and if things had changed, like the trees, the season and the weather. The children were fantastic! We have been learning some words to describe homes including; detached, semi detached, terraced, cottage, flats and bungalow.

Some of our activities have included using shapes and magnets to make different homes and buildings and describing their features, using wooden blocks to make buildings, using loose parts to make pebble families and writing CVC words with magnetic letters to match the pictures.

To reflect this in art we have researched European landmarks and the country and city they are in. As a class we chosen five landmarks to focus on. We then decided who was going in each group. We have loved researching our chosen landmark and working as team to decide on the recycled items appropriate to our buildings. We have spent the last two weeks starting to create our designs with our chosen materials.
