In this lesson, students will explore the creative side of programming by designing, creating, and testing a mat for a floor robot. They'll learn that programming isn't just about code—it's also about the artwork and design that support the project. By customising their mats to fit different themes, students will develop a deeper understanding of how design choices impact functionality. They'll also practice testing their creations to ensure usability. Through this, students will connect art and code in an interactive, hands-on way.

In Computing today, Team SG have been exploring desktop publishing.
The children have been: ●Changing font style, size, and colours for a party invite ●Editing text ●Changing text to communicate more clearly Take a look at their blog page for some photos of their learning. https://www.wombwellparkstreet.co.uk/team-sg-blog-202425 This week we began our new unit in Computing. The focus over this term is for children to focus on the skill of programming, with the aim to programming a robot by the end of the unit. In this week's learning, the class focussed on describing a series of instructions as a sequence. The class pretended to be robots, following their partner's instructions.
This week the children of Team JF started a new unit of learning - Robot Algorithms. To begin with we discussed instructions. From this, we started to think about how a computer would know what actions we wanted it to carry out. As learning progressed we took it in turns to role play in pairs. One person became the robot and the other person gave the instructions. The children found this incredibly useful to understand that all instructions had to be clear, sequenced and unambiguous.
This week the children have been learning about how robots can help us and how they need programming to do certain jobs.
