Year 6 have investigated plate tectonics and their role in making the Pacific Rim a seriously extreme place for volcanic activity. As well as learning about extreme weather and revising key oceans, continents, mountains, we have also investigated how and why earthquakes happen, and the human and physical impact of these catastrophic events. This will lead into Year 6 designing and creating a device to detect volcanic eruptions.
We have booked out two full days in the second half of the Autumn term to look at creating, designing and evaluating early warning systems for a natural disaster. We will be challenging children to apply their knowledge of electrical circuits in their designs. We cannot wait!
