Being an Eco Rep means you care about the environment and want to make a difference to our world. Every little change you make will have a positive impact on your local area and the wider world. If you are interested in making a difference, especially during your time at home, then Blue Peter have a badge for you! There are 20 Eco Reps in school. Two children are chosen from each class from Reception to Year 6 and are voted for by their peers. The role of the Eco Reps is to make our school green! There are many ways that we can do this and we have already taken part in some fun activities this year including;

- "The Great British Spring Clean" where the Tidy Team accompanied us on a litter pick on Park Street to make the area clean and safe.

- We have been on a litter pick within our school grounds and focused on cleaning our nature area. We were amazed at the amount of rubbish we collected!

- "The Big Schools Birdwatch". We made bird feeders using lard and bird seed. We hung them from the trees in our nature area to feed the birds during winter time when food is scarce. We also took part in the birdwatch and recorded and sent off the results. We saw some Wood Pigeons, a Blue Tit and Blackbirds.

We had some more fun activities planned for this year to help learn about birds as the birdwatch really inspired us to learn more! We were due to have a visit from a bird sanctuary. They were going to bring some owls and birds of prey for us to learn about so hopefully this can be rearranged. We were also due a visit from the "Bug Man" who was going to teach us about caring for the environment and how to attract bugs to boost the ecosystem within school.

Our overall aim is to educate others in school and to understand how we can all make small changes that will impact locally and globally. We meet every few weeks to discuss important issues and take part in activities.
