This half term Team LF have focussed on the topic of Space, which has also included looking at the history of the first man/woman and animals who have landed on the moon and/or travelled into space.
Some of the children chose to focus on this within their Science presentations and included facts about these historical moments within their work.

Team CW reviewed their class time capsule today that they created during our History Day earlier this year.
It was really interesting for the Rainbows to recall what they placed in the capsule and they spent some time looking at the family photos and the recipe that they added to the box. Rainbows discussed how they have changed since the photos, as some of them were babies, toddlers or in Nursery when they were taken. They know that they have changed in height and talked about the skills they have learnt over that time, such as talking, walking, making new friends, learning how to read, write, draw and make things. Rainbows discussed their All About Me pages and talked about if some of the things on them had changed. They all drew our favourite toy and most Rainbows decided that their favourite toy was still the same. There were just a couple of children who said they had changed their favourite toy. Rainbows had lots of fun looking at their time capsule and talking about how their lives had changed over time! In Year 6 Team AF and Team LL have been learning about the Maya.
They have looked at geography, chronology, structure of society, beliefs and their link to chocolate. They have compared this period of history and this group of people to the present day, Ancient Egyptians and made brief reference to other history periods covered. They also consolidated CE and BCE. To end our school year Team AC looked back at their time capsule to remind the children what they had said about themselves. They loved looking at the old photos of when they were younger and talked about what had changed since then. They looked at the 'all about me' sheets and enjoyed recalling what they had written about their likes and dislikes from the beginning of the year. Again they talked about changes and how you sometimes have different ideas as you get older.
Team AC have really enjoyed their history this year and the children are looking forward to what they can learn as they move to year 2. |
