This week Team CW had a mystery object from the past in their feely bag. They used the words "from the past", "history" and "a long time ago". They had to close our eyes and feel carefully and describe it. They described it as "big" and "hard."
When they discovered it was a key, they tried to guess what it was used for and had some very interesting discussions. At first the Rainbows thought it might be a key for a car so we discussed that cars were from very recent history and when this key was made there were no cars. Some of the Rainbows identified that they had electric keys for cars, but knew this key wasn't electric. They decided that it was too big to be for a house as we compared a shiny modern key that was much smaller with it. The Rainbows asked why it was so brown so they talked about how it would have been shiny when it was made and how it is very old, well used and is tarnished and rusty now. Another fabulous answer was that maybe it was for a castle door! team CW discussed how castle doors were big and heavy with big locks and how this is from something very similar, a church! They were able to explore the key further and hold it carefully.
