Team CW - Life In The Past!

Today the Rainbows were learning about the past.

The vocabulary they used was; past, present, future, a long time ago, recently. They begun by looking at their own past and discussed that first they were a baby, then toddler and now a child. They know this is the recent past. They then discussed things that were a long time ago, such as when their parents were young, and then when their grandparents were young.

They progressed onto learning that things were different a long time ago, such as buildings, clothes, technology and we discussed some of the things that were different and looked at some pictures.

They then played a game of guess the object! They had to guess what a miners lamp was but it was tricky because it didn't have a plug you could plug in to make it work, and it didn't have a light bulb! The children enjoyed exploring the lamps, and agreed that they don't have anything in their house that looks like this, they just put the light switch on.

Rainbows also had an interesting discussion about mining and thought it was terrible that some children couldn't go to school or play with their friends, they had to get a job and work very hard!
