Visit to Whitby!

Team LF visited Whitby and the children had chance to visit the harbour, town and Abbey grounds. During the trip, the children also had the chance to walk up the iconic 199 steps and visit Whitby Abbey to take part in an educational workshop led by the Abbey staff.

The children learnt about why the abbey was founded and how it has changed through time. They investigated evidence of the Anglo-Saxon monastery, learnt about the different techniques that can tell us about the past, explored what life was like in the later Benedictine monastery and imagined what life was like for a monk.
