Year 6

In Y6 over the Autumn Term we looked at the chronology of some famous natural disasters and focused specifically on the eruption of Mt Vesuvius and its impact on Pompeii and Herculanium. We explored sources of evidence including letters from Pliny sent at the time.
This half term we have started our learning about the Ancient Egyptians. We completed our pre-unit assessment and carried out some independent research. We have explored the geography of where Ancient Egypt is on modern maps. We have unpicked the chronology of where Ancient Egypt fits in with other historical periods covered by the children so far and looked at similarities and differences. We have placed key events from Ancient Egypt on a timeline. Next week we will be exploring the structure of ancient Egyptian society
