This week in nursery, we are exploring shapes in our Maths learning. At group time, we learnt a song to help us to say the shape names (triangle, circle and rectangle) and we drew the shapes in the air using our finger. In our provision, we have lots of resources to help us learn about and explore shapes: -different shape cutters in the playdough -shape printing in the paint area. We have learnt to dip the shape into the paint and press it onto the paper to make a print. -shape turtles in the water area -creating collage pictures with different shapes in the creative area -threading with shape buttons -exploring different shape jigsaws and puzzles -mark making with shape stencils -building using wooden blocks. Here are some photos of us playing together and learning in our provision areas so far this week. We have been very busy!

Teams LL and AF are continuing to work on calculation using our knowledge of structures. We have been developing number stories for part whole and bar models. We have been using Cuisenaire to represent different values.
This week at Park Street, our amazing children have continued with their timestable practise at home. Here are this week's TTRS Stars of the Week:
Team JF - Iyra-Rae Team CH - Jenson Team CB - Diana Team SG - Oscar G Team JD - Jude Team DB - Joel Team LL - Filip Team AF - Mason Team of the week this week goes to Team CH! Congratulations to everyone who has participated in TTRS this week! Over the last few weeks the children have been working immensely hard in their Maths. As they have made the move to Key Stage 2, each day for the first 3 weeks the class have completed a tables race. This is where children complete their times tables in a random order in 10 minutes. The progress the children have made has been absolutely staggering, I am so proud of them! Times tables will remain a big focus for our learning over the course of year as we prefer for the MTC next year. In our daily lessons, children have been recapping basic addition and subtraction skills initially, before beginning to look at place value this week. This will continue over the Autumn Term as we hope to secure the children's understanding.
After the summer holidays, the children have come back to school with an enthusiasm to continue their learning with their timestables. As well as encouraging the children to practise their timestables using TTRS, they have been bringing home their daily timestable sheets.
Here are this week's weekly TTRS Stars of the Week! Team CH - Natalia Team CB - Grace Team SG - Oscar G Team JD - Kacper Team DB - Joel Team AF - Keira Team LL - George Team of the Week this week is Team JD! Huge congratulations to everyone! |
