In Maths, we have had a focus on counting, ordinality and cardinality. We know that the last number in the count tells us ‘how many’ things there are altogether in a set of objects – and we have practised their 1:1 correspondence skill, by counting numbers at the same time as moving or tagging objects. We know that we have 5 fingers on one hand and that ‘5 and 5 makes 10 altogether’. In Maths, we have; explained that items can be compared using length and height, explained that items can be compared using weight/mass and volume/capacity, practised counting a set of objects and compared a set of objects. Here we are finding objects that are longer/shorter than our pencils! Here we are using the balance scales to find out which object is the lightest/heaviest. Here we are practising counting objects using our 1:1 correspondence! Y1 Mastering Number!
In our afternoon Mastering Number sessions, we have practised making and recalling doubles up to double 5.
