Team CB started their new PE focuses this week!
In their Dance sessions, they are working on cheerleading this half term. The class thoroughly enjoyed their first session this week where they learned a series of arm positions and stances that are used in cheerleading. The class worked in pairs to create a short dance phrase featuring different positions that they held for a count of 8. In their Games session, the class have been exploring hockey in more detail this week and have been applying the skills they have learned over the course of the last Term to support them in controlling the ball and hockey stick. Well done Team CB! You have demonstrated great resilience across your sessions this week - keep it up!

Our KS2 were very lucky to have SportsCool in this week to teach us Archery. Team JD learnt the basics of archery, such as: our position, aiming, stance and how to release.
They had such great fun and didn't want it to end! Our FS2 and KS1 classes were very lucky to have SportsCool in this week to teach us how to play UV Dodgeball. This week Rainbows (Team CW) had so much fun taking part in a new game; glow in the dark dodgeball! They had to listen very carefully to the instructions to learn the rules of the game and practice their communication skills to try and win! They practised throwing and tried to hit their target and practiced dodging out of the way. There were so many laughs and they all enjoyed themselves! The Sunshines (Team EO) had to listen carefully to the rules of dodgeball and aim the ball at our opponents! This helped to develop our gross motor skills. We had lots of fun! Team CH had a fantastic experience today. We had so much fun learning the rules of dodgeball and developing our gross motor skills as we dodged, ducked, and dived our way to becoming star players!
Today in PE, Team CH focused on the skills of attacking and defending in a game. Their main objectives were to understand the roles of both attackers and defenders, and learn how to create and deny space on the field. Through a series of activities, they practiced dodging to create space and marking opponents to limit their movement, improving both our offensive and defensive strategies.
Team CH used a variety of equipment like cones, rugby balls, tag rugby belts, and large balls to make the games more dynamic and fun. The pupils demonstrated great effort in understanding the importance of possession, dodging, and marking, which will help in future games. It was a great session where everyone showed improvement in their teamwork and tactical skills! |
