As the Euro's are well under way, football fever has hit school! The catering team have been celebrating and have provided us with decorations and sweet treats with a St George's flag. The Rainbows (Team CW) have been designing their own football shirts, supporting their fine motor skills development. The Sunshines (Team EO) have also been supporting their fine motor skills by tracing over patterns on football shirts and then colouring them in - they have worked super hard to try and stay in the lines!

To celebrate the Euros 2024 and as part of our learning EYFS staff organised a sponsored penalty shootout. Throughout the day children from Team CM (nursery), Team CW and Team EO took 5 penalties against a member of school staff.
On Wednesday afternoon, Team EO had a lovely afternoon on the school field taking part in our EYFS Penalty Shootout – we had fun taking shots against Mr Wordsworth and Miss Crookes and cheering our friends on from the touch line! Prior to this we learnt that there are 24 teams currently competing the Euros 2024 and that 2 of these teams are from the United Kingdom. We discussed how everyone on the same team has to wear the same colour kit so they can recognise who is on their team and we spoke about some people enjoy watching the football matches and put flags up in their homes. Team EO were very good at pretending they had scored a goal and celebrating! Before taking our penalties we enjoyed watching some previous penalty shootouts from Soccer Aid! Here are some action shots from Team EO's penalty shootout! In PE today Team EO have been practising for our Sports Celebration. We have practised the sprint race, relay race and egg and spoon race!
Look at us go! We FINALLY had a sunny day so Team CW could get back out on the field and do some exercise. Before the holidays they ran one lap of the field and have been waiting to get back out there and do two laps!
The day finally came and they rose to the challenge! They talked about facing a challenge and how they can approach it in different ways. They discussed that a challenge for them may be too tricky or too easy for others so everyone can achieve the goal at their own pace. They either walked, jogged or ran to complete our first lap of the field and some of us did a mixture of all three. Then they sat down and felt our heart beat and talked about the effects that the exercise had had on our bodies. They were raring to go for our second lap and we completed that too! What an achievement! Next time we will aim to complete two laps again, and if some of the Rainbows would like an further challenge they can aim for three laps. Well done Rainbows! Here they are keeping fit and healthy! |
