This week the children worked really hard in small groups to perform entrances and exits safely using apparatus. The children ensured they had squashy knees and hands out in front when landing / jumping up, over and from apparatus. They also followed the teaching points of Entrance: Feet together, neutral (straight body), extended arms above head. Exit: Feet together, neutral (straight body), extended in front, line with shoulders. They were superstars and really enjoyed the session.
During PE sessions this week, Team CB have been continuing to work on their new topics in Dance and Games. In Dance, their theme for this half term is Toys. They have started to embody different toys to help us consider the different ways they move. This week our focus was to explore how to be a robot. The children were great at considering the way they needed to create straight lines and stiff movements to replicate the toy. The children created short dance phrases once they had considered a variety of movements.
In their Games session, the children have been working on kicking skills; underarm and overarm throwing; sending and receiving a ball and a range of striking and gathering skills. Over the coming weeks they will have the opportunity to apply striking and gathering skills into small sided games. Team JD used all the skills that they have learnt over the last few weeks. The children created a Bollywood routine and absolutely smashed it. Their lines and movement were on point and in time with the music.
