In our One Life session we looked at Bullying this week. We began by defining exactly what bullying was, discussing the language of hurtful, intentional, repetitive and involving a power imbalance. We looked at some scenarios and how we could be an upstander in the situation rather than an bystander and how to best support our friends. The class were very respectful during the discussion and could confidently articulate whether situations would be deemed bullying or not.

we continued to look at 'bouncing back' from things that might not always go the way we expect. We talked about being a good friend and forgiveness.
Our story this week was Stick and Stone. This story enabled Rainbows to learn that they can bounce back in friendships, that they can show up as a caring friend and they learnt how to forgive in our friendships .
In the story, Stick and Stone didn't know each other and were lonely. Stick saw Stone playing on the swings and saw Pinecone laugh at him when he fell off. Stick stuck up for Stone and their friendship was formed. They did lots of new things together until there was a terrible storm and stick was blown away. Stone searched everywhere and eventually found him and rescued him from a large puddle where he was stuck. The story enabled them to learn how to stick up for their friends and that caring friends make each other feel good! The Rainbows learnt how to say sorry and also how to say they forgive their friends if something unkind happens and they apologise. We have also been singing our bounce back song! During our Incredible Us time we earnt on Friday we did fun team building activities.
Team building activities we took part in foster crucial skills like communication, problem-solving, leadership, and empathy, building confidence and social bonds through fun challenges which teach us cooperation and mutual respect while reducing bullying and preparing us for future success. We had the best time, Team DB! In One Life, we discussed our physical fitness and thought about self-care habits that keep us healthy, such as getting washed, brushing our teeth, washing our hands after going to the toilet, exercising, getting enough sleep, and eating healthily.
This half term the focus of learning across school is bouncing back! This is the idea that it is important to build resilience and flexibility in our thinking as life can be challenging. It teaches children that our hearts must remain soft and then, when challenging things happen in our lives, we can choose how we respond with forgiveness and acceptance so that we don’t let it take over us and become us. We are teaching that we must not be frightened by life, just aware that challenges will come and we need tools to deal with it. We want children to know that they can cope with anything that life throws at them, even the really challenging things pass if we have the mental strength and flexibility to respond to them
In One Life, We listened to the story Tilda Tries Again. Then we have discussed how it is okay to make mistakes and that this is how we learn. We know that bouncing back is such an important lesson and that we know we need to be resilient and keep on trying!Last half term, Team JF has been on a brilliant learning journey through our Incredible Me! Our focus has been all about developing strong teamwork skills, and the children have truly risen to the challenge.
Throughout the weeks, we’ve explored what it means to work together by playing a wide range of team games. These activities gave us the perfect opportunities to practise sharing and taking turns, as well as to experience both winning and losing with confidence and kindness. One of the biggest parts of our learning has been recognising and managing the big emotions that come with competitive play. Whether celebrating a win or coping with disappointment, the children have shown incredible maturity and resilience. We are so proud of how each child has grown. They have demonstrated what fantastic team players they are—supportive, patient, determined, and always willing to give things a go. Team JF has truly embodied the spirit of Incredible Me! this half term. |
