We are so excited that 10 of our Y5 children are engaging in the Mini Police program and working with members of South Yorkshire police to learn about a range of issues including road safety and anti-social behaviour. The children have thoroughly enjoyed going on patrol in their uniforms and working alongside members of the community policing team. We may well have some police officers of the future amongst our team. Well done!

For this year's harvest Mrs Longden led a whole school assembly about the importance of food production and harvest today with changing climates. The children were asked to bring in tinned foods that were to be distributed locally to food banks and care homes in the area. Some of the school council thought that it would be a good idea for everyone in the school community to show their togetherness by wearing autumn colours for the day of the harvest festival on 19th October. Each week in Assembly Mrs Lawson looks at a significant historical person and how they have shaped British values and attitudes. For this assembly children in the older Key stage 2 classes are asked to write a report based on the information they have learnt about the significant individual. These are some of the write-ups from the assemblies so for this term. Next week is Diversity week at Park Street. As a school we strive to be inclusive and celebrate all in our school and wider communities. This week each class will be partaking in activities to help broaden their understanding of inclusivity and diversity starting with Mrs Longden's Monday assembly. This Month is Black History Month. During this Month at school it
is a time for people from all backgrounds to enjoy and acknowledge the amazing things black people have achieved. This video by Newsround explains brilliantly what the Month is about. |
