This month is has been Black History Month. This year’s theme for Black History Month is “Reclaiming Narratives,” and marks a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture. In school classes have focussed on learning about a Black historical figure and those who are shaping policy and shining a light on achievement in the present day. Year 1 are looking at the achievements of current Black celebrities and sporting heroes. Year 6 are focussing on the words and meaning behind Martin Luther Kings famous speech " I had a dream."

Year 2 This week the children have continued to explore friendships. We initially recapped our prior sessions focusing on what makes us unique, how it is important to be different and how we are enough. From this, we started to think about what makes a caring friend? We used the story 'Meesha Makes Friends' to open the discussion of caring friends and how to make new friends. Today Y4 had an action-packed RampUp session, where they learned crucial road safety tips and mastered new scooter skills! They spent 30 minutes learning all about road safety and then took to the ramps, trying out exciting scooting moves.
