In addition to our weekly One Life lessons, the year 6 children have engaged in some wider PSHE learning. BLACK HISTORY MONTH Why was Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech so important? We explored the events leading up to the speech including protests against racial injustice and segregation. Pupils had the opportunity to write their own speeches to inspire others to make the world a better place. ROAD SAFETY WEEK We looked at the statistics linked to which age groups of children were most likely to be involved in a RTA - it is ours!!! We revisited all the important rules we have learnt over the years around how to stay safe on and near roads. ANTIBULLYING WEEK - we were lucky enough to have a member of the local community policing team come to speak to us about Internet safety and one are we focused on was cyberbullying and just how hurtful and harmful it can be. We also discussed how we can make sure our school remains a bullying-free zone. The year 6 team are passionate about this and created some posters offering support and advice, which are displayed around school.
