Spring 2 - Team CB

This half term in Reading, Team CB have focused on All the way down: Ocean as their central text. The class have explored selected extracts from the book alongside related texts to strengthen their understanding of similar texts. Throughout the term, they have continued to expand their vocabulary and recognise how some words can have different meanings depending on the context. Their reading fluency has improved with more of the class reading at an increased rate and with a better understanding of how to read through intonation, expression and pace. Staff are so proud of how hard the children have been working to read different character parts in different voices to show these are individual thoughts and words. Just as fluency has developed, so too has the class' critical thinking. The class are now more confident to refer back to the text and provide evidence for their answers and are growing in independence when annotating the text to find key points to support their answers.
