Spring Reading in Team LL

Team LL have spent the Spring Term exploring the genre of historic fiction through their class novel Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carrol. In its narrative, the novel combines the story of a head strong girl and Howard Carter’s discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Through the novel and exploration of a wide range of texts, pupils have been developing further their VIPER skills but with a particular focus on inference, explanation and comparison. The class have developed their ability to give impressions and support the points made with evidence from the text. Pupils have also been developing responses which require comparison or contrast, ensuring enough detail is given to balance explanations.
