Here is a quick update in relation to the amazing science work Y6 have been completing.
Enquiry Focus Problem Solving - Y6 became detectives CSI Wombwell. We carried out a hedgehog investigation. Using a range of evidence and sources we came up with a range of hypothesis about what could have happened to a rather unlucky hedgehog and we adapted our theories as new evidence came to light - which helped us solve the problem. Enquiry Focus: Observation Over Time - As part of our work on the heart and the circulatory system we are trying to take part in exercise every day and we then going to measure our resting pulse rate over the next few weeks to find out if our increased participation in exercise makes a difference to our resting heart rate (bpm). Watch this space we will keep you posted HUMANS CIRCULATORY SYSTEM AND HEALTH: We have been exploring what the circulatory system is. We have learnt that our blood is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma. We know our blood is vital in transporting key gases and nutrients around the body and removing elements we do not need. We have studied closely the function of the heart - we know the main sections of the heart and can describe how the hear pumps blood to the lungs and then around the body, We know that blood travels in arteries, veins and capillaries. We have explored the importance of sleep, good nutrition and managing stress in order to maintain health and well being. We have planned a practical investigation to explore the impact of different levels of exercise on our heart rate. We will be practically carrying out the investigation in PE this week and will be recording our findings ready for analysis back in class.
