Year 6 have had a busy year in science. For our science enquiry last half term we were pattern seeking - pupils were exploring if there was a link between our arm-span and our overall height. This half term our enquiry focus has been research using secondary sources. The children tied this in with our history and PSCHE work researching Remembrance Day and the significance of poppy wearing.
Our main science learning is all about electricity and circuits. W have explored renewable and non-renewable sources of electricity, posed and responded to a range of enquiry questions, looked at parallel and series circuits, revised components of a circuit and have began to build more complex circuits. Our next step is to carry out our own circuit investigations.

This week Team JF carried out our half termly enquiry based on pattern seeking. The children carried out careful observations around the school grounds. We decided to investigate and find the answer to our big question of where would we find the most insects? From this we discussed the similarities and differences between their habitats and why they might be the happiest there. After we carried out our investigation, we looked at our findings and concluded there was a pattern to the habitat and number of insects living there. More insects are found in dark, damp, sheltered spaces.
