Literacy and reading - keeping up with our phonics work and we are getting better at thinking of our own sentences to write. We even had a poet in class that helped us to write some funny poetry!
Maths - Bonds to ten and addition
Science - We have been looking at changes over time - the bread in the window had gone mouldy and the egg in the jar of vinegar - YUK!
PE - We have been working on the apparatus to do our balances - tucks, straddles and pikes. We worked in teams to make short sequences.

And...the final week before the Easter break wouldn't be complete without some lovely Easter activities such as making cards,  Easter nests and baking Easter chocolate buns!
Have a lovely holiday everyone and we will see you on the 13th April.

Week 4 - round up

PSHE - One Life - This week we have talked about how we can show compassion to ourselves and each other. We read a book about how we can show compassion for others through being kind, listening, helping and showing that we care. We drew pictures and did some role play to suggest what we might say to show kindness to each other.
Science - we had fun drawing round each other and taking it in turns to put labels on our life size drawings. We then labelled our our smaller drawings to show what we had learnt.
We also looked at the results of our science investigation - changes over time and we checked on the egg that we had put in vinegar to see what had happened after a week. We were surprised to see that the hard shell had tuned soft and fell off the yolk. This had turned rubbery and squidgy.
The bread hadn't changed as much as we had expected and only had one piece of mould on it. We will check again in another week to see of any more changes occur.
History - we talked about what happened after the Great Fire of London and what changes were made to make sure London was safer for people to live there. Next we will look at how the fire service has developed over time.

What a wonderful time we had on World Book Day!
We used the computers to draw our favourite book characters, we completed a book scavenger hunt with our friends, we had lots of time to read, we looked at maps of Neverland and navigated around them and we even squeezed in making book marks and a few Cbeebies bedtime stories.
Check our our pictures... don't we look fab?!

History

This term has seen Team AC learning about the Great Fire of London. We have really enjoyed finding out all about this time in history, using the words -when, where, why and how to help us find out lots of interesting facts and information.  This week we have looked at historical sources to see which would give us the best information from that time. We decided that as there were no computers, cameras or phones at that time we would have to look at things that were written or drawn. We found out about Samuel Pepys who wrote an eyewitness account in his diary. We also looked at famous paintings from this time to help give us an idea of what it might have looked like in 1666. The final thing we decided might give us clues would be any artefacts that might have been discovered from this time including fire hooks and fire buckets.
We also created our own collage pictures.

Week 1 Spring Term 2

This week in RE we talked about the Chinese New Year celebration. We found out that it is celebrated in late January or early February depending on the Lunar calendar. It is celebrated with gifts, fireworks and dragon and lion dances and culminates on the 15th day with a lantern festival. Often Chinese people return home to spend time with their families. The festival is also celebrated in many other east Asian countries.
In Chinese tradition, each year is represented by one of 12 different animals, which feature in the Chinese zodiac. 2026 marks the change from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Horse.
Look at some of the fabulous things we did to help us think about this celebration.
