After playtime this morning we walked into this! As you can see, our classroom has been turned upside down. We thought about what had happened and who it could be and figured out that it was Goldilocks! One of the biggest clues was a message on the board saying 'Where is the porridge?'. We have decided to make wanted posters so everyone in school knows to keep a look out. We don't want this to happen in any other classroom!
In literacy this week, we have read the story of Rapunzel and all agreed that the witch is very evil! To prevent anyone else from being affected by her wicked ways we decided to write a character description so that everyone knows what she is like. To do this we had to use adjectives. As a class, we came up with some amazing adjectives to describe her. We also carried out a little role play to support this. Here is what we looked like as we took on the role of the witch:
This week we have been learning about numbers to 10. We have practiced our counting, writing and forming numbers correctly and showing numbers in different ways. Today we had to help Miss Crookes. Unfortunately, she found it difficult to show 10 in a ten frame but don't worry, we managed to help her:
What an amazing first week!! The children have made an exceptional start to year 1 and have truly worked there socks off! Keep up the great work Team AF!
During our first week in year 1, we have been looking at how we can group objects using their features (such as colour). We then started looking at numbers to 10 and how to correctly form each numeral.
This week, we have shared our lovely summer holiday with each other. We started of by discussing all the exciting things that we had been doing. We then looked at how to write these as a sentence, using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. It looks like we will be producing some lovely writing throughout the year!
We hope you enjoy finding out about all the fantastic learning that we have been doing in Team AF.
