Team CB Blog
The beautiful thing about learning is that it has no parameters. Everyone can teach someone something they did not know.
Did you know Team CB are hosting a Space celebration later in the school year? If you didn't you do now and hopefully so will Tim Peake very shortly!
This weeks literacy focus has been all around persuasive letter writing. Early in the week, we received a letter from Mrs Lawson asking us to confirm information regarding our celebration so that the School Diary could be updated. In her letter she suggested inviting an inspiring scientist to attend. After thinking long and hard, Team CB decided we would write a letter inviting Tim Peake (an ESA British Astronaut) to our event. We thought carefully about the information we needed to include, as well as how to be incredibly persuasive, as we know he is an exceptionally busy man! Next week, we will kickstart our draft form of writing before editing and improving ready to write up and send to Tim.
In Maths, we have been busy exploring the links between decimals and money. We have been super busy exploring how different denominations of money link to our place value board, before progressing to solving reasoning problems all based around the concept of money. I must say the children have been incredibly enthusiastic this week and have developed a clear understanding of money!
In our Science, we have independently research key facts about the planets in the Solar System. We have created fact cards which document key information - did you know Saturn has 52 known moons? We have also spent time this week looking at teeth and their functions. We have investigated the different types of teeth in our mouth and the job that each does. The class were fantastic detectives in making sure they could fill the jaw in the correct way with the different teeth types!
We have also been looking at the 5K's in our Sikhism topic and the children were able to use their research skills to describe each of the 5K's and confirm what they represented.
