Team CB Blog
The beautiful thing about learning is that it has no parameters. Everyone can teach someone something they did not know.
Across school, it has been assessment week this week. The children have worked incredibly hard to demonstrate what they have learned so far this term and their attitude, to what can be a difficult task, was something to be proud of. Each child tried their best in every situation and should be thoroughly impressed by their achievements.
This week, we have also spent time focusing on anti-bullying as part of the nationwide campaign that is running this month. As a class, we have discussed key features of bullying, how to manage situations and most importantly why we feel so strongly about the message behind anti-bullying. In order to show our support to the 'All different, all equal' campaign, we all created our own jigsaw piece. We used this to show what makes us unique as individuals, before combining the pieces to show that all together we fit as one regardless of our differences or similarities.
To round up what has been another jam packed week, today Team CB are getting their artistic hats on as they continue to construct and design their European landmark models.
Next week we will be off on an orienteering trip around school to discover the countries of Europe. Make sure to check back to find out how we got on!
This week Team CB have been incredibly busy looking at instructions for our literacy focus. As we are exploring Europe as part of our ongoing topic, we visited Italy and made pizza. We then looked at the process we had gone through to create our individual pizzas and used this to create our own set of instructions. The children had to make sure they were including prepositions of time and imperative verbs, so that it was clear to the reader exactly what was expected.
Another point to note, is that this week we have also began to create our European landmarks. We have used every day items to inspire our designs and are already well on the way to create some fabulous sculptures that will be displayed in the classroom!
As I write this, Team CB have just returned from a fun packed morning supporting the fantastic cause that is CHILDREN IN NEED. We have already seen Pudsey on the way up to school this morning, and then quite literally kicked off our fundraising efforts with a Pudsey's Penalty Shoot Out.
Later this afternoon children will get the chance to participate in a CIN themed spot hunt and roll any spare change they wish to donate on Pudsey!
In what has been an incredibly busy week as always I would like to acknowledge how wonderful the children's responses have been to every task they have faced this week!
During our first week back the children have been working incredibly hard as always!
In our maths this week we have been looking at rounding off our addition and subtraction unit. To complete this unit of work, we looked at subtracting across zeros and worded problems which relied on undertaking more than one step to solve the problem. The children's attitude for learning was exceptional and they were incredibly resilient and persevered wherever they met any challenge.
As part of our Literacy, we looked in more detail at some of the SPAG concepts that form part of the year four curriculum. We have worked hard all week on mastering fronted adverbials and subordinate clauses. We also took a look at how to form the present perfect tense.
Rounding off our first week back, we also got to grips with our new Science topic which is all about electricity. The children were keen to discover the different types of electricity that we have and showed great understanding of protons, neutrons and electrons!
Well done Evolutionary Astronauts, what a great start to the new half term!
