Already our first half term of the year is drawing to a close, and what a half term it has been! The children have showed a relentless hunger for learning and it has certainly been a delight to be a part of. In true Team CB style, the class have jumped at the chance to learn this week and once again they continue to astound me with what they can achieve.
In Maths this week we have been busy working on developing our understanding of subtraction. The class have all worked on using the formal written method for subtraction and are now able to successfully solve problems with multiple exchanges. If you need a help calculating your change at the shops this half term I'm sure our Persevering Pioneers would be up to the challenge!
In our Literacy, this week we were set a challenge to write our own poems based on Paris. We considered a range of poetic devices that we could include within our poems and the class were fantastic at generating some incredible ideas for personification. The reason behind our learning this week is that this afternoon we will be taking part in a poetry battle with Team LG. Team CB are hoping to do everything in their power to steal the crown from the reigning Year 5's. I most definitely believe we are capable after reading the class' work.
So, as I reflect upon our first half term I will be looking back with pride at how far our young learners have already come. I hope you all have a safe half term and look forward to posting more updates in the next few weeks!
