This week the children have been consolidating their learning around addition before moving on to start exploring the concept of subtraction. We started our investigations using lots of practical resources to help us understand the concept of exchange. The class were really quick to pick up that we needed to take from our neighbor if we did not have enough to complete the subtraction. I can only imagine what wonderful learning the class will demonstrate next week!
During Literacy we have worked really hard to edit our work and create a final published version. To draw our learning on Spain to a close, today we held a Spanish celebration where the children explored some of the topics we had been learning about first hand. We all took part in an orienteering challenge where we had to use our knowledge of school to locate famous Spanish landmarks. Following this, we began to explore Picasso and some of his famous artwork before attempting to create our own. To finish, we all had a chance to try out Flamenco dancing for ourselves. The children were all so engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the session.
Elsewhere, we have continued our exploration of European mountains and produced wonderful Keynotes to share amazing facts. We have also been busy exploring the process of changing states in our Science!
Well done Year 4!
