This week, we have been busy writing our descriptive texts ready to read to Team JF next week, I must say, if you could have been a fly on the wall of our classroom this week, you would have been simply blown away at the fantastic level of high quality, engaging language the children were busy generating. It was simply fabulous! We began the week by writing about disembarking our rocket which had unfortunately malfunctioned in Space, forcing us to crash land. Once we disembarked, we began to investigate our new surroundings before building tension within our writing to indicate all may not be as safe as it seemed. On Thursday, we wrote the final part to our writing... an encounter with an extra-terrestrial creature. The ideas that the children had about where their writing could go this week, was simply delightful to see. They have been so highly motivated during this piece and I cannot wait to read this finished product later into next week! Check back then to see how our model read went to Team JF.
Meanwhile, in Maths this week we have taken the time to revisit some of our key skills linked to the four operations. We have been busy consolidating this to ensure we can complete a multitude of different question styles all linking to these 4 procedures, and I must say, the class certainly rose to the challenge.
To conclude our week, we have been busy looking further into the functions of the digestive system. To allow the class to fully comprehend what goes on inside our bodies we recreated the human digestive system through every day items. The class were particularly in awe when we saw how our meal of beans and toast was passed along the intestines and water was absorbed! It was a joy to see their faces so intrigued and led to some fantastically high level thinking questions!
Super work Team CB!
Keep it up!
