As I sit down to write this, I find myself shaking my head in disbelief that a year has gone by so quickly and that Team CB have reached the end of their time in Year 4! As they prepare for a well earned rest, I have recently spent time casting my mind back over what has been a truly magical year. A year I have thoroughly loved and one that has shown Team CB to be true Persevering Pioneers.
Casting my mind back to September 2018 I can remember the faces of the class as they came through the double doors for the first time. They found their peg label, hurried in to find their morning place and awaited the days events with eager smiles on their faces. Fast forward to July 2019 and the children come in to their peg (which may have lost its label), sit in their morning seat which has changed over the course of the year, but still without fail give me those eager smiles as they wait to see what is in store for them. The class' personality has changed so much over the year, they have become more resilient, more determined, more ambitious, and yet some things just never change!
We have covered such a huge amount this year - from fractions and decimals to Anglo Saxon newspaper articles, From Earth and Space to the Digestive System. The class have invested themselves in every learning opportunity and shown themselves to possess some of the most inquisitive minds I have come across. The knowledge they will take with them is broad and varied and has sparked intrigue in further understanding the broader areas of daily life.
It has been a simply spectacular year and I would like to thank each and every member of the class for making it so brilliant. I hope you all have an incredibly restful holidays and I can't wait to hear about all the brilliant things you will get up to as you move into Year 5.
This week has been an incredibly busy week in Team CB. The Persevering Pioneers began the week by seeing what life would be like in their new class. They spent time developing artwork linked to their topics for next year, as well as establishing their new class name. I can reveal they will be officially known as the Park Street PALS. During transition the class also wrote their own vision statement about the type of class they wanted to be, as well as developing ideas around how they wanted their topics to start and conclude through stimulus days. By the time they came back to Team CB on Wednesday, they were so eager to share what they had been up to! It has been lovely to see how well they have managed trialing new things in new classes and I could not be more proud of them!
Once the class were back in their usual setting, we spent time completing some of our RE work, where we had been looking at the features of the Gurdwara, along with the 10 Gurus of Sikhism. The class were so engaged throughout and found it especially interesting that the eleventh and final Guru of Sikhism was actually the holy book - the Guru Granth Sahib.
In what has been a busy but brilliant week, I say in disbelief, please check back next week for our final blog post of the academic year! Where has time gone?
What a week it has been in Team CB! We have been so incredibly busy in our class and have reached some really fantastic milestones in our learning!
In our Maths we have been working hard to consolidate some of our learning around the four operations as well as fractions. We have looked closely at how we can expand our knowledge and worked hard to develop our understanding further.
Elsewhere, we have been busy completing our SRE unit and understanding families, our bodies and changes. We have also held our Park Street's Got Talent auditions to discover which act will make it to the final on the final day of the year. Well done to the Mini Ezra's who secured their place in the final representing Team CB, we are so very proud!
Finally, we also participated in our much anticipated ukulele performance as part of the Barnsley Key Stage 2 Music Festival. The class were absolutely outstanding in their performance and I could not have been more proud of the hard work, dedication and confidence they showed in their compilation! What a super way to celebrate all your hard work this year!
