This week has been assessment week across school. The Persevering Pioneers have worked exceptionally hard across all the core subjects to show just how much they have learned this year already. We have unpicked different types of questions and what they look for in an answer so that we can address these areas next time. I could not be more proud of how hard the class tried!
Elsewhere, in Literacy we started the week with a missing hammer! Thor's hammer had been stolen! The class looked high and low for it but had little success in finding it! That was, until Loki the Jokester showed up at the classroom door with a hammer in his hand. As Loki was also known for being a keen storyteller he told the tale of how he came to find it and the class discussed what the term "myth" meant. From this, we established our purpose for writing, we are going to create our own Norse Myths to add to the library to inspire some of our younger children. As such, we then unpicked elements of a myth to form our own success criteria and then worked to develop our understanding of how to use expanded noun phrases and prepositions to describe. This will support us in our learning next week when we plan our setting and character descriptions.
What's more, this week has also been World Book Day. On Thursday the whole school dressed up as their favourite characters from a book and took part in lots of literacy related learning. The class loved having another teacher in to share their favourite story, as well as the chance to do our usual reading buddies work with children lower down school. What a wonderful week it has been! I can't wait to share what we get up to next week.
