This week the Persevering Pioneers have shown true resilience and determination across all aspects of their learning. I could not be more proud of the fantastic work that they have produced!
To start off, in Maths we have been busy exploring fractions further. This week our focus has been on adding and subtracting fractions as well as calculating fractions of an amount. To help do this, we have explored lots of different reasoning and problem solving challenges. I am almost certain Team CB would be fabulous at helping to share equally any items around the home, as they have certainly mastered in their learning now. Keep it up Team CB as next week we are moving on to look at the relationship between fractions and decimals.
Meanwhile, in Literacy the class spent time writing the most magnificent myths. The content, care and attention to detail certainly has not gone unnoticed. I can say with a honest heart that these pieces of writing are our best so far, and that is certainly saying something! I cannot wait for them to appear in the library to inspire some of our younger school children!
This week we have been busy exploring how the Vikings came to be known as 'pirate raiders'. To do this, we identified typical modes of transport, including the Viking longship. Once we had established how they were made, we attempted to apply our design and technology skills to create our own paper Viking longship model. The class showed great perseverance in what was a really challenging task. These now look wonderful on display around our classroom!
Finally, to mark Science week, the class were lucky enough to participate in a Science show which took place within school. The class loved it and were always more than eager to participate at every opportunity. Thank you for being fabulous as always Team CB. I cannot wait to see what we get up to next week in our learning.
