What a busy week we have had in Team CB! This week we have been learning all about different ways that we can multiply numbers. We have looked at grid methods and moved on to column method multiplication. The children have worked their socks off this week and have been thoroughly committed to their learning. On Thursday we worked incredibly hard to recognise the links in number and how one number sentence can inform how to solve other related multiplication problems.
We have also been busy refining our understanding of spelling, punctuation and grammar this week in Literacy. We have used haunted settings to work on our knowledge of fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases, whilst also writing a doctors script to help us understand how to use the present perfect tense!
Our afternoons have been electrifying! We have been working all around our new topic of electricity this half term and began to experiment with circuits! The children were fantastic at identifying complete and incomplete circuits and testing these using the equipment!
Next week is assessment week, so as always Racing Rockets will be workinng incredibly hard to demonstrate their outstanding progress so far this term!
See you soon!
Fancy a trip to Spain? You will do once you read the Racing Rockets absolutely outstanding persuasive travel brochures! Over the last few weeks we have been working to help Grizzelda's sister boost tourism in Spain. To do this, we had to firstly identify what the features of a travel brochure were, what makes them persuasive and how we were going to include them in our writing. The results were fantastic! Having personally never tried Tapas or visited the Royal Palace of Madrid, the children have more than convinced me it should be my next holiday! I will have my bags packed shortly (during half term of course)!
We have also been busy this week getting stuck into multiplication! We have been developing our knowledge and partitioning three digit numbers to then multiply using the grid method. Next week we are taking it a step further and will begin to look at column multiplication to solve problems.
Check back next week!
Ever fancied laying back on a luxurious sun lounger, listening to the waves crash against the sandy beaches of Spain? Then get yourself to the door of the Racing Rockets! This week we have done a fantastic job of convincing people around school to visit Spain thanks to our excellent informative writing! We have discovered the hidden treasures that can be found and made sure everyone knows about them in our information guide!
We have also continued with our time work this week and explored the digital time! If you in a muddle with the time we have some terrific time experts over in Class 4!
During the first week back Team CB A.K.A. the Racing Rockets have been busy learning all about time! We have discovered how to tell the time on an analogue clock using different intervals of time!
We have also worked incredibly hard in Literacy and began to research features of travel brochures as Grizzelda's long lost sister needs our help to persuade people to visit Spain!
Not only this, but we have also started our new topic of electricity this week where we have been learning all about the electrons, neutrons and protons that make up an atom! We were busy recreating the atom in the hall - it was a great afternoon!
Keep popping back for updates!
