Over the next two week the whole school are celebrating Interfaith and the Arts week. The religion that Team CB are exploring is Sikhism. This week, we begun researching more about Sikhism after receiving a letter from Sunny (a Sikh boy who is moving schools and wants us to help him produce a guide to the Gurdwara for his new classmates). We worked in groups to cover an aspect of the religion before feeding back to each other and creating a gallery to observe our findings in. We then researched the key features of the Gurdwara and transferred this onto an A3 document, creating a non-chronological report. This will form part of our assembly presentation next week.
We have also explored different art related to Sikhism. The class investigated what Mehndi hand patterns were before creating their own designs. We also investigated how to make a Mandala and then using outdoor chalks created our own or worked from a template. These will form our art display that will be on view at our Summer Fayre.
To further explore Sikhism we have also looked at Bhangra as a type of dancing. The children were all thoroughly enjoying practicing their dance moves to a new style of dance, take a look at some of the pictures below! We will report more next week!
