The beautiful thing about learning is that it has no parameters. Everyone can teach someone something they did not know.
As we enter into Week 5 of the first half term, the children have risen to the challenge of learning new ways to record and solve addition problems. At the beginning of the week, we transformed our tables into place value grids to clearly see the link between concrete objects and abstract numbers. By the end of the week all the children were using the formal written method to solve addition problems! Well done you marvellous bunch!
In our Literacy this week, we received an unexpected email from Grazellda the wicked witch from our fairy tale writing. She needed help as her sister was struggling to visit England as her local Spanish shop wasn't trading well and money was tight. We problem solved and decided that one way we could help was by creating a travel brochure to persuade people to visit. We spent time unpicking the key features of the brochure and generating our own persuasive devices.
In our topic this week, we may have caused a terrible odour throughout school as we conducted a boiled egg experiment to help in our understanding of tectonic plates and how mountains are formed. We then used this knowledge to help us investigate famous mountains in Europe and important information about them.
