Today Team CH have been exploring odd and even numbers. First we allowed the children to explore the shape of the numicon, then we discussed and group the numicon according to the shape of it. Next, we discussed odd and even numbers and used the shape of the numicon to discuss this. Then, we moved onto ten frames and introduced the stem sentence; Numbers that can be made our of groups of two are even and Numbers that cant be made out of groups of two are odd numbers. Finally, we used number sense to practice skip counting and noticed that when we add two to an even or odd number we get the next even/odd number.
