Jack and the Beanstalk

This week we are continuing our "Watch it Grow" theme by focusing on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We read the story at group time and the children tried to join in with the repeated phrase: "Fee fi fo fum, I smell the blood of an English man." We also tried to change our voice to sound like the fierce, scary giant. 
Following reading the story, we talked about how we could grow our own bean plant and we found out that we would need a seed. We thought about how to plant our seed and used the words: plant pot and  soil. Then we went into the outdoor area and we all had a go at planting our own seed. We learnt to carefully fill our pot with soil, make a hole with our finger, put in the seed and then carefully cover it up. 
Then we spoke about what we needed to help it grow and some children knew it would need water, Each child then had a go at watering their own seed. We are hoping that they will grow very soon!
