Red Nose Day

The Shooting Stars thoroughly enjoyed wearing non-uniform and raising money for Comic Relief today. We spoke about raising money to help people who are not as lucky as we are and the children were keen to help! 
During the day, we had a go at lots of different activities. We sang a red nose day song and we also told some jokes which supported our speaking and listening skills. Miss McGinnes told the children about Gethin Jones who had a challenge to dance for 24 hours and we used the word "endurance" to describe the challenge. Then we had a go at our own dance challenge- we didn't manage 24 hours but we did keep going for 2o minutes and the children realised how tired they would be after dancing all day!! 
Then we went on our welly walk in the nature reserve and we spotted red noses hidden in the trees. Each red nose had a different facial expression on it and we had a challenge to try and find them all and tick them off on our sheet. We worked in two teams and helped each other to find them. We also spoke about the expression on each face and related this to different feelings including happy, sad, excited, scared, shocked and tired.
