As part of our science focus on plants, the children have been learning all about the function of roots. They have been using spades and gardening tools to dig up and explore the different types of roots. During the afternoon, they were able to use magnifying glasses to have a closer observation of the root system and how important their job in order to keep plants healthy.
The children have been busy practising counting in French to 20. They have been learning through singing songs and playing games. When playing pairs they were working hard with the correct pronunciation of each French number.
The children worked in mixed ability pairs to explore different ways of making an amount. They had find check their answers as well as begin to discuss and explore how they found their different calculations.
During our beginning stages of teaching our autumn term topic, the children have been busy understanding what a country and continent is. They have been using different maps and globes to develop not only their understanding of the difference between continents and countries but also being able to read maps to locate them. Some of the countries were quite tricky to locate but through team work and determination, they were able to locate some of them.
