The children in Team GG have had a busy week preparing for another succesful fundraising event. They had truly been outstanding in how they have worked together to create a stall full of amazing goodies. Once again, thank you to the amazing lucky Christmas jars that the children created at home to sell on the stall. They were fantastic.
Wow! What a turn out today. Can Team GG just THANK everyone who has supported the coffee morning. The children have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the build up and the actual running of the coffee morning. Through all the support given, Wombwell Park Street School has raised an amazing amount of £488.75. What an achievement and a real credit to Team GG.
The children this week have been busy making their rainsticks ready to write their draft set of instructions. From exploring the features of instructions the children have identifed what they need to apply within their own set of instructions. For example, the use of numbers, bullet point, new step new line and most importantly the use of imperative verbs (bossy words).
During science, the children explored the importance of a fair test before predicting material will make the best rain soundout of the three materials on offer. They gave reasons such as size, shape and how hard or soft the material might be.
Throughout the experiment, they weighed out 20g of each material to test in the paper cups. Once ceiled they then had to listen and decide as to whether the sound was too quiet, just right or too loud for the sound of rain.
Now the experiment is complete, all they need to do is weigh out their chosen material to pour into their rainstick before finally ceiling up the other end.
Mission is nearly complete!
During a TASC morning, the children have been busy applying their maths skills during the final stages of designing their rainstick before beginning it. On their final design sheet, the children have recorded the length of their choice of cardboard tube, including the circumference. They used both a measuring table and a ruler to record their measurements in cm. Once they had their measurements, they then used these to cut their design paper to size, ready to draw and select a range of materials to their rainstick.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
