Wow, the children have been working on developing their understanding of our brains and how we can better understand our feelings and sensations. The whole class had a great discussion on the importance of making connections with each other. We talked about what would be better, walking and being on our phones (not paying attention) with our friend or catching up through having a conversation with them? It was great the discussion of how the shared their views. In particular, some children expressed the importance of seeing the persons face. Through the discussions, the children developed that through making connections such as hugging pets and close family members as well as smiling at each other allows their body to release the feel good chemical oxytocin.
Their final activity was to record the connections to create a classes paper chain.
