During Spring half term we have focused on compassion, compassion in relationships and compassion in an emergency.
So far we have covered a range of areas around compassion. Such as, the definiation of compassion, to know what self-compassion is, compassionate self-talk and the essential need for metnal fitness. 
We have also looked at, compassionate phrases, actions and the ripple effect of them actions. We have focused on sterotypes, how harmful and judgemental they can be to others.

During our Spring term in Team JD we have focused on The Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. 
Key learning objectives we have covered so far are:
Describing when and why the Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain - We have identified the key events in Anglo-Saxon history, wrote sentences to show our understanding and labelled a map to show the Anglo-Saxons Kingdoms.
We have compared and contrasted current maps of England with Anglo-Saxon examples, identified evidence of Anglo-Saxon existence through suffixes in current towns and cities.  We have also determined where current towns and cities are in respect of Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms. 
Finally, we identified the different roles in Anglo-Saxon society, recalled the significant facts about their different roles, and the importance of their different roles.

During our Spring 2 term, we have been busy focusing on Athletics with our year 4's. Whilst year 5's are out swimming. 
Then as a whole class we have been learning Maori Haka Dance.

Maori meaning passion and pride- Traditionally, haka was a customary way to welcome visiting tribes, but it also served to invigorate warriors as they headed into battle. It was a show of physical prowess but also an embodiment of cultural pride, strength, and unity.
The All Blacks were the first to introduce the haka to the sport in 1888. When the New Zealand Native Football team (which included Māori players) toured the United Kingdom, they performed the haka before each game, sharing this piece of Māori culture with international audiences
The All Blacks attempt to intimidate the opposition before the match begins. However, most teams accept that the haka is part of rugby's heritage and face up to the All Blacks during its performance, with both teams standing about 10 metres apart.


Year 4 - Athletics
During athletics  we have focused on a range of different events that take place during athletics in the Olympics.
​ We have practised relay racing with different groups of children, long jump, hurdles and timed some of our races to see if we could be our personal best.

We were very fortunate to have a gentleman called Dave come into our Class to help us get a better understanding of our world and the importance of science in supporting our planet.
We investigated a range of topics relating to science such as, net zero, renewable energy, new forms of renewable energy to look our for in the future and the vital importance of renewable energy to look after our planet for the future generations. We also focused on different chemicals and created a circuit using water and rods. We concluded the battery created electricity and heat. Causing the water to heat up bubble.
We also created a pipeline to help us get our renewable energy we had created to different buildings using pipes(straws).
We had an amazing time and learnt so much whilst having doing it!

Wow what an amazing, busy day we had in Team JD!
We did lots of fun drawing, reading, comic creating and reading with other teachers and classes.
Team JD had the amazing opportunity to read with Team EO. The children in Team EO were amazing, the listened to us read and were engaged and truly incredible.  
In Team JD we had fairies, footballers, Harry Potters, Wicked characters, Mr Bump, David Walliams characters and much much more. 
Even the adults in Team JD had a little bit too much fun dressing up! Especially Mr Davison :-)
