Wow what an amazing day we've had! The wonder dome came to visit us. It was magical, we learnt so much from the experience, the lady focused on galaxy's, solar system, time, gases, planet Earth and much more.
We also did a solar system scavenger hunt and decorated buns to form The Moons cycle. We learnt that The moon cycles through eight distinct phases as it orbits Earth, a cycle that takes approximately 29.5 days. These phases are: new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter, and waning crescent.

We have been observing shadows over time.
We asked the question - Does the path of the sun affect the position of a shadow? We explored our prediction, equipment and method. We then went out on a sunny day to highlight the shadow of a piece equipment on the floor at 9am, we then went out and observed the shadow at midday and at the end of the school day. We recorded our results on a table and filled in our conclusions. Most of us predicted that the shadow would be longer in the morning and getter over the day. As the sun moves across the sky, the shadow will move too. We see a shadow when your body blocks the sunlight. The shadow position will change based on the Sun's position in the sky. During Art we learnt how to use pastels. We practised before doing our best copy by doing how a planet first, learning how to blend and merge colours.
After lots of practise we did our best copy on black card using the pastels. We are really proud of our art work , we hope you agree! We cant wait to start our next challenge of papier Mache. |
