Literacy
In Literacy this week, Team JF have been focusing on developing their handwriting and writing skills. Each day, we have been practising a chosen letter, concentrating on forming it accurately and neatly. The children have worked hard to ensure their letters are the correct size and shape and are sitting correctly on the line. Once we have practised our letter formation, we move on to our speed write. This helps us to build fluency and confidence when writing, encouraging the children to write more smoothly and efficiently. During this time, we also practise three weekly spellings to support our spelling development. To finish our sessions, we have been working on holding a sentence. This involves remembering a sentence, repeating it aloud and then writing it independently. This important activity helps children secure the foundations of writing, such as using capital letters, finger spaces and full stops, before moving on to creating their own sentences. Our sentence work and spelling practice have been inspired by our current class text, Gorilla by Anthony Browne. The children have enjoyed exploring the story and using vocabulary and ideas from the text within their own writing. We are so proud of the determination and enthusiasm Team JF have shown as they continue to develop their handwriting, spelling and sentence-writing skills. Keep up the fantastic work! 🌟 Maths In Maths this week, Team JF have been continuing to develop their confidence and fluency with number. The children have been working hard to explain their thinking, use mathematical vocabulary and solve problems using different strategies. Through a range of practical activities and reasoning challenges, we have explored numbers in greater depth, encouraging the children to spot patterns and make connections in their learning. We have also been practising our recall of key number facts to build confidence and accuracy. The children have shown fantastic perseverance when tackling problem-solving tasks and have worked collaboratively to discuss their ideas and justify their answers. These discussions help to deepen understanding and develop mathematical reasoning skills. We are very proud of the effort and enthusiasm Team JF have shown during our Maths lessons. Keep up the excellent work, mathematicians! ⭐➕🔢
