Maths
Throughout the week, we revisited the written method for long multiplication. We briefly touched on this before the Christmas holiday however we weren't consistent enough in using the method accurately. After working on the method for another week and beginning to apply it to reasoning problems, we are a lot more confident in answering long multiplication questions and understanding how the process works. Literacy The start of a new term meant the start of a new book - Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo. Set in World War One, the book reflects on a young boy's life from the trenches. We were taken back to Tommo's first day at school and analysed his feelings towards this using Point, Evidence, Explanation (PEE). As we continued to read we discussed the pressures that some families faced when the First World War was taking place and how they had to adhere to the rules set by the Colonel. Alongside this, we also analysed the features of a newspaper report and looked at two examples of reports from newspapers written in 1914.
