During our maths lesson today, we focussed on identifying the different types of triangles based on their properties. We used electrical tape to create a range of triangles on our desks. At first we used sight recognition to try and identify the types of triangles we had created. However, to ensure we were being accurate we took this further. We carefully used a ruler to measure the length of each side of the triangles and then used this measurement to decide if the triangle was an equilateral, isosceles or scalene triangle. Following this we had the chance to look at some challenge questions such as:
Can an isosceles triangle also be a right angled triangle?
Can an equilateral triangle ever be a right angled triangle?
Team LG joined Team AF for a half an hour read. Members of Team LG modelled fantastic reading skills to the younger children and even asked questions about the stories that they were reading.
On Wednesday 5th July, Team LG spent the morning with two secondary school teachers from Sheffield. Mr Firth and Mr Wright came to teach the class Computer Science. The first part of the session, the children dismantled the base unit of a computer and learnt about the different components including: the hard drive, the power supply, the motherboard, the CPU and RAM. Following this, Team LG completed an outdoor activity linked to algorithms and how computers sort information.
A couple of weeks ago we had an email from Mr Fidment requesting for some pieces of descriptive writing for his class. Mr Fidment wanted to use these as WAGOLLs for his children to read before they began writing their own. We have been working really hard to ensure we used as many descriptive writing techniques as possible within our writing. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to visit Team AF to read our finished pieces of descriptive habitat writing.
