HURRAY! No doubt you have heard the rumour - yes Team LL have managed to get over 1000 dojos as a class. The reward chosen by pupils was to have a film and a snack. The class enjoyed their reward this afternoon. We are now pushing on to reach 2000. There is no stopping Team LL !
Team LL have been researching everything there is to know about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire night. They have been giving thought provoking points, backing up their ideas with evidence and developing detailed explanations. In addition to this we are part way through some amazing biographical writing unpicking further the complex character of Guy Fawkes.
The class have also been making outstanding progress when calculating fractions. Keep up the great work Team LL
It is fantastic to have Team LL back safe and sound after the October half term holidays. Just to let you know a little about what we will be learning this half term:
MATHS: We have already made a start learning all about fractions. we will be simplifying, comparing and ordering. Children will then be learning how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. We will also be learning about fraction, decimal and percentage equivalents. Followin the mastery approach we will be applying our skills to a wide range of problems and investigations.
LITERACY: As we have recently enjoyed Bonfire Night we kick off the half term by researching the life of Guy Fawkes. We are working towards writing biographies of his life. As part of our topic we will also be writing non-chronological reports as part of our work on the Extreme Earth. Reading remains a high priority and children are enjoying a wider range of books and authors during independent reading. As the festive season approaches we will be enjoying some Christmas poetry and working to put on a dramatisation based on Charles Dicken's classic 'A Christmas Carol'. Watch this space.
INTEGRATED CURRICULUM: D&T, art, computing, geography and science will all be integrated into our exciting topic 'Why is the Earth so Extreme?'
